Short version

Glimp does not collect, store, transmit, or sell any of your data. Photos and videos you capture are saved directly to your computer and never leave your browser.

What Glimp does

Glimp is a Chrome extension that opens a small floating camera preview over any webpage when you hold a keyboard shortcut. You can take photos, record video with sound, pin the preview open, and drag or resize it.

Camera and microphone access

Glimp requests camera and microphone access to show the live preview and to record video. This access is requested from the extension's own page (not from each website you visit), so Chrome only needs to ask you once — the same permission then applies everywhere.

The camera and microphone are only ever active while the preview is open. Nothing is captured, recorded, or transmitted in the background.

What happens to your photos and videos

Data collection

Glimp does not collect any personal data, browsing history, analytics, or usage statistics. It does not use cookies or any tracking technology. It does not communicate with any external server.

Permissions Glimp requests, and why

A trade-off worth knowing about

Because Glimp's camera permission is granted once and applies to every site (rather than being requested per-site), any website could technically load the same permission-check page in a hidden frame and reuse an already-granted permission without asking again. This is a deliberate design trade-off made in exchange for not having to re-grant permission on every new site. It does not give Glimp itself — or any website — the ability to access your camera silently before you've granted permission at least once.
